Rs 187bn earmarked for Punjab Police

LAHORE: (Dunya News) : The Punjab government has allocated Rs 187 billion for the police department in the budget for the financial year 2024-25.
Rs 124.3 billion allocated for the entire districts of Punjab.
The Special Branch will get Rs 7.82 billion and Rs 7.69 billion allocated for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab. Rs 6.7 billion earmarked for the Chinese security unit and Rs 3.8 billion are allocated for the Safe City Authority.
The Punjab Elite Police will receive Rs 980 million and a budget of Rs 4.2 billion allocated for the Police Training Institute.
Sources said the police officials were expecting a raise in the budget sensing the surging terrorism and street crime incidents.
