Kite-flying incidents claim two more lives in Punjab

Two boys were killed in Sargodha and Pattoki on holiday
SARGODHA/PATTOKI (Dunya News) - The bloody game of kite flying continues in several cities of Punjab despite a ban as two boys were killed in Sargodha and Pattoki on Sunday.
A minor boy was electrocuted in Jhal Chakiyan area of Sargodha when he was trying to catch a stray kite with the help of an iron rod.
The second incident occurred at Jagowala village near Pattoki where an eight-year-old boy, identified as Ali Raza, died when he fell from the roof of his house while flying kite.
The casualties related to kite flying, mostly due to chemical-coated twine, have taken place in the last few months despite police crackdown on violators.
Faisalabad's incident
Kite twine claimed the life of a young motorcyclist in Faisalabad's Samanabad area a few days ago. The heart-wrenching incident took place at Novelty bridge where Asif Ashfaq, 22, fell a victim to kite twine. He died within minutes of being wounded by twine.
Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the regional police office (RPO) of Faisalabad.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the district administration and police to arrest the violators. She gave a 48-hour deadline to police to take action.
