ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A day after a gruesome bombing in Kandahar city, Pakistan urged Afghanistan on Friday to combat terrorism as a shared concern that requires collective efforts from both countries.

According to foreign media outlets, a suicide bombing in front of a bank in Kandahar city resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people and injuries to 12 others.

Pakistan strongly condemned Thursday’s terrorist attack and called on the Taliban government to address terrorism as a shared concern through collaborative efforts, according to a statement released by the Foreign Office.

"The government and the people of Pakistan extend their sincere condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the early recovery of the injured," the statement added.

Pakistan reiterated its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Late on Thursday, the banned Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack through its Telegram channel.

The blast targeted civilians gathered in front of the bank to withdraw cash, as reported by the Kandahar police department in a statement.
