ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has constituted a fact-finding committee to implement the decision of the Supreme Court of Feb 6, 2019 on the Faizabad sit-in and identify those responsible for the incident.

The committee comprises additional secretaries of interior and defence departments and the ISI director general. It will work according to laid out TORs.

The attorney general for Pakistan submitted a compliance report in the Supreme Court according to which the committee would collect evidence, documents and available record leading to and staging of the sit-in. It would also consider statements of witnesses before finalising its finding.

The committee will determine the managers and handlers of the sit-in. It will also find out who gave orders and managed the incident.

The committee will submit its report to the ministry of defence by Dec 1. If it needed more time to investigate, it will contact the ministry.
