KARACHI (Dunya News) – Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi suggests the closure of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), claiming that the institution is being used for political engineering.

Speaking to media in Karachi after attending the accountability court on Tuesday, he said the bureau was meddling in politics which was not a good omen. He said justice was not being delivered and nobody was ready to focus on this aspect.

The injustice being committed by NAB was unprecedent in the judicial history, he said, adding that the bureau had paralysed the country.

He said: "It's been five years since his case has been under trial and he has been attending the proceedings but nothing is being done. Only dates are given." The former premier suggested installation of the surveillance cameras in courts so that the masses could observe what's being done here.

Many judges were transferred from courts but his case was still pending, Abbasi said. He reiterated that the bureau should be abolished.
