Cop guarding polio team embraces martyrdom in Bannu attack

BANNU (Web Desk) – A police constable deputed to guard a polio team administering vaccine to children was killed in a suspected militant attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district.
Militant outfits including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have repeatedly targeted polio teams administering the crucial drops to children. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of the Miryan police station.
The martyred cop, constable Kamran Khan, was on security duty with the polio health workers administering vaccine to children in connection with the ongoing immunisation campaign against the crippling disease.
The attackers managed to escape the scene after committing the crime. The body of the martyred cop was taken to hospital for autopsy and later to the Police Lines for funeral prayer.
Bannu Commissioner Pervez Sabatkhel, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Qasim Ali Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Iftikhar Shah, relatives, and people from different walks of life attended the slain cop’s funeral prayer.
Later, Kamran was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Lalozai Surani village.
