Police finalise security plan for Eid prayers in mosques and open areas

8,000 officials to be deputed for 5,000 Eid prayer gatherings in Lahore
LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Punjab police have finalised the security arrangements for Eidul Azha.
More than 36,258 officials will perform duties for the security of 27,355 mosques and Imambargahs and 775 open places for Eid prayer gatherings across the province.
In Lahore, more than 8,000 officials will perform security duties for 5,000 Eid prayer gatherings.
According to Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar, 2,973 police national volunteers, 1,468 special police, 268 QRF teams will also be deployed for security. As many as 11,967 metal detectors, 263 walk-through gates and 4,921 CCTV cameras will also provide security for Eid prayers.
The IGP said a comprehensive strategy had been formulated for the protection of mosques, Imambargahs, Eid gatherings and citizens across the province. He added that additional personnel would also be deployed for the security of parks and recreational places during Eid holidays.
Strict action would be taken against the violators of one-wheeling, aerial firing and kite flying, he said.
The commander of Punjab police said complete checking and clearance of all mosques and Imambargahs would be ensured before Eid prayers.
