Vawda accuses President Alvi of creating 'misunderstandings'

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) former leader Faisal Vawda said on Wednesday that the embattled party should not be banned. 

Speaking to media, Mr Vawda slammed the president, saying, "What the president has done, I don't think any enemy can do. President Dr Arif Alvi has a huge role in creating misunderstandings."

He criticised the PTI leaders and said, "I had warned Imran earlier about snakes in his party."

"The tasks done by the PTI is enough to ban the party. But the party should not be banned," Mr Vawda maintained. 

On the other side, former PTI leader Usman Tarakai joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference flanked by Mr Tarakai, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi said, "Those who are joining the PPP have been welcomed by the leadership. I welcome Usman Tarakai to the PPP."

Taking a jibe at PTI chief Imran Khan, Mr Kundi said, "Imran Khan has done nothing for the country except deceive the people".

In connection with the May 9 mayhem, Mr Kundi said, "The events that took place on May 9 are highly reprehensible." 

On Sunday, Mr Tarakai quit the PTI after the May 9 vandalism that followed the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Speaking to media, Mr Tarakai said, "We strongly condemn the terrorism committed by the party on May 9".
