Pakistan endured suffering by taking part in US war, laments Imran Khan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan lamented on Tuesday the suffering Pakistan endured as a result of its participation in the US war.

Addressing a seminar, Mr Khan expressed his concern over the terrorism incidents, warning that if the menace of terrorism would not end, the country would have to face the consequences.  "If this war continues, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will suffer more," he added.

Continuing to discuss the matter of terrorism, Mr Khan suggested that the federal government hold regular meetings to address it. He slammed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, saying, "When Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were ruling the country, it had witnessed 400 drone attacks."

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Mr Khan said, "Today our prime minister is welcoming the world and the foreign minister is busy making trips in parts of world. He [Bilawal] should have been in Afghanistan by now."

Mr Khan also warned the government not to divert the people’s attention from the matter of the TTP. He complained that he was labelled "Taliban Khan", and he claimed that the country would face more suicide attacks in the future. As for Pakistan’s role in the US war, Mr Khan said, "I used to say that Pakistan needed to show neutrality in the US war. We took part in the US war for 20 years."

Underscoring the situation of the farmers in the PTI’s government, Mr Khan said, "In our time, in the field of agriculture, the farmers were pleased." He said the rulers were now begging after their [PTI] government was toppled through a foreign plot.

Speaking about the Wazirabad incident, Mr Khan said, "As per media reports, JIT members are being pressurised to distance themselves from the findings of the investigation into an assassination plot against me. This further confirms my conviction that powerful quarters are behind the assassination attempt on me."
