Rulers turning tail from polls in Punjab, KP, says Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) general secretary and former federal minister Asad Umar said on Thursday that the rulers were turning tail from elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he alleged that the rulers were trying to amend the legislation in order to delay elections in some way, while Pakistan’s roots are weakening.

Asad Umar said that seeing the letter of Governor Punjab, one cannot understand whether to laugh or cry, adding that the incumbent government is determined to violate the basic principles of democracy as they are afraid of the people of Pakistan and Imran Khan.

“The very example of their [rulers] turning tail from election is that just a week before the elections in Islamabad, they thought the idea that the federal capital’s population has increased and changed that number of union councils in June,” he added.

Further taking a dig at the federal government, the former federal minister said that the rulers have failed badly in politics and courts and now they will also fail in Toshakhana case against PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.
