PIA flight brings back 165 stranded Pakistanis from Syria

PIA flight carrying 165 Pakistanis from Syria landed at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight carrying 165 Pakistani Zaireen from Aleppo (Syria), who got stranded in Damascus after Israel s recent bombardment at the airport, landed at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi late Monday night.

The national flag carrier had operated a special flight after Pakistan s ambassador to Syria requested the government and the PIA CEO for early evacuation of the stranded Pakistanis.

First, the Pakistani passengers were transported to Aleppo from Damascus by bus, from where the plane brought them back home.

According to the foreign office of Pakistan, nearly 300 Pakistani citizens were stranded in Syria after the Israeli airstrikes.

It said on Sunday around 160 pilgrims were scheduled to travel to Pakistan from the Aleppo airport through a PIA flight. “Remaining 140 Zaireens [pilgrims] will be traveling to Iraq for Pakistan,” the foreign office added.
