LAC grants bail to 16 accused in Clean Water Company reference

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore Accountability Court (LAC) on Monday granted bail to 16 accused in Clean Water Company reference.

According to details, PML-N s leaders including MPA Raja Qamarus Salam and Wasim Ajmal were also given bail from the case.

It was mentioned in the application that the case does not fall under the implementations of NAB after the amendment ordinance.

During the hearing, the NAB counsel argued that the amended ordinance does not apply to pending cases.

The accountability court judge Sajid Awan heard the arguments of the lawyers of the parties and gave the decision of granting bail to all accused.

It is pertinent to mention here that the NAB had filed a reference in 2018 containing more than 250 pages and 9 volumes and had accused that a corruption of Rs345 billion has been done. It was alleged that the accused committed corruption of Rs 345 million. 

In response to court’s decision, President PML-N Shehbaz Sharif tweeted that he is thankful to Almighty on the bail of 16 people in Clean Water Reference case.

Spokesperson PML-N Marriyum Aurangzeb mentioned in a tweet that the Clean Water Company reference is mere political revenge and a lie. Every upcoming decision will boost PML-N morals.

It is pertinent to mention here that in Clean Water Company reference the son-in-law of Shehbaz Sharif Ali Imran and daughter Rabia Imran are the most wanted accused.
