Opposition in Senate terms mini-budget as economic terrorism
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Opposition in the Senate has termed the mini-budget as economic terrorism and said that the government was surrendering to the IMF.
During the Senate session chaired by Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, while commenting on the mini-budget, Senator Mushtaq, Senator Rukhsana Zubairi, Senator Hidayatullah, Rana Maqbool and others asked whether the IMF asks the government to impose direct tax on the common man.
“Brazil asked the IMF to leave the country,” they said and added we are also an independent country we must also get rid of the international lender.
The senators also proposed a tax on international food services and a ban on foreign products, adding that the mini-budget will increase the rate of inflation in the country.
They went on to say that the taxes of Rs 350 billion were being imposed on 150 items, adding that Pakistan has been surrendered before the IMF.
