Shaejeel Memon rebuts news of ban on pillion riding in Karachi
KARACHI (Web Desk) – Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Saturday pillion riding was not banned in Karachi on the eve of new year.
Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon had earlier notified that pillion riding was banned in the city from Dec 31, 2022 to Jan 1, 2023.
The minister said that people were free to celebrate new year albeit they should refrain from aerial firing, blocking roads, and one-wheeling on bike. “Ensuring people’s security is the government s top priority”, he added.
On the other hand, the city’s administration allowed the public to visit sea shore on new year eve saying there was no ban on visiting the sea.
SSP south said that the police were alert to ensure the security of people adding restaurants and shops had been ordered to close at 8pm.
