NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Indian T20 cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav has filed a defamation lawsuit against Bollywood actress Khushi Mukherjee, seeking damages of INR100 crore.

The legal action follows a controversial statement that went viral on social media, prompting the cricketer to take what his representatives describe as firm legal steps to protect his reputation.

According to Indian media reports, the lawsuit centres on claims allegedly made by Mukherjee, in which she stated that Yadav frequently sent her messages. The statement quickly gained traction online, drawing widespread attention across entertainment and sports circles.

Yadav’s legal team has categorically rejected the allegation, calling it false, baseless, and damaging to his personal and professional standing. Lawyers representing the Indian captain said there is no evidence to support the claim and argued that such unverified statements can have serious consequences for a public figure’s image.

Legal representatives further stated that making allegations against well-known personalities without proof is not only irresponsible but also misleading for the public. They maintained that the spread of such claims on social media platforms amplifies reputational harm, making legal intervention unavoidable in this case.

The legal team emphasised that the lawsuit aims to address what they described as a deliberate attempt to tarnish Yadav’s image. They added that unchecked allegations, particularly when circulated widely online, can adversely affect both private life and professional commitments, especially for individuals in the public eye.

Indian media reports indicate that the defamation suit formally seeks INR100 crore in damages, underscoring the seriousness with which Yadav is pursuing the matter.
