The suspect bail petition was approved in one of the cases
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - An Islamabad district and sessions court granted bail to Hassan Zahid in one of the cases filed against him related to the alleged harassment and attempted kidnapping of social media influencer Samiya Hijab.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Aamir Zia approved Zahid’s bail petition in one of the cases upon submission of Rs20,000 surety bonds. However, Zahid remains in a five-day physical remand in a separate case registered at Shalimar Police Station.
Zahid faces charges in two cases for alleged harassment, assault, abduction, and issuing life threats, based on a complaint by Samiya, an Islamabad-based influencer. Two days prior, Samiya alleged that Zahid attempted to abduct her outside her residence, prompting swift action by the Islamabad police, who arrested the suspect within 24 hours.
During the hearing, Zahid’s lawyer argued for his innocence in the kidnapping case, leading the court to grant bail. The court scheduled September 9 for arguments on his pre-arrest bail plea.
In an Instagram video, Samiya, a well-known TikTok personality, revealed that Zahid, identified as a resident of Lahore, had been harassing her for months with threats and marriage demands. She recounted how he appeared at her home, seized her phone, and attempted to force her into his car.
Referencing the recent murder of teenage TikToker Sana, who was killed in Islamabad earlier this year after reportedly rejecting a marriage proposal, Samiya expressed fear, stating, “My friend Sana died for the same reason — rejecting a proposal. I don’t want to become another Sana.” She appealed to Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi for protection and commended the police for their prompt response in registering her complaint.
Police are still working to recover a weapon allegedly used by Zahid to threaten Samiya, two vehicles involved in the incident, a mobile phone, and Rs45,000 in cash reportedly stolen from her. Shalimar police condemned the act, calling the attempted abduction and coercion unacceptable.
