KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police in Sindh capital have successfully rescued a woman who was illegally detained in a flat in Defence Phase 5.

According to officials, the alert came to Madadgar 15 after neighbours reported hearing a woman’s cries from the apartment located in the commercial area of Defence Phase 5.

Karachi’s Darakhshan police station team, led by SHO Riaz Niazi, reached the flat where the door was locked from the inside. With the presence of neighbours, police broke open the lock and discovered Fatima, the victim, bound with iron chains around her neck, hands, and feet.

Using a cutter machine, police safely freed the woman from her restraints. Fatima told authorities that she is a resident of Shireen Jinnah Colony and had been called to the flat by her ex-husband under the pretext of arranging expenses for their children.

The victim explained that upon her arrival around 9:00 am, her ex-husband, along with a friend, forcibly confined her in the bedroom and chained her.

Neighbours promptly informed Madadgar 15, and police registered a formal case against the suspects. The authorities have launched a manhunt to locate and apprehend the ex-husband and his accomplice.
