ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given formal approval for Pakistan’s national cricket team to play its scheduled match against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, ending uncertainty surrounding the high-profile fixture.
According to an official government announcement, the Pakistan–India match will be played as per the original schedule, with the clash set for February 15 during the T20 World Cup.
In a statement released on social media, the Government of Pakistan said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was formally briefed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on the outcome of high-level discussions held between representatives of the PCB, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The government also reviewed formal requests submitted by the BCB to the PCB, along with consultations held with Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and other member countries.
