Sri Lanka secured their first tri-series win by defeating Zimbabwe by nine wickets, led by Pathum Nissanka’s unbeaten 98.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Sri Lanka registered their first win of the tri-nation T20 series, overpowering Zimbabwe by nine wickets in a commanding performance at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Batting first, Zimbabwe posted 146 for five in 20 overs. Captain Sikandar Raza led from the front with a composed 37, while Ryan Burl also contributed an unbeaten 37. Brian Bennett added crucial runs with 34 off 26 balls, though Brendon Taylor could manage only 14.
Sri Lanka’s bowling attack remained disciplined, with Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga taking two wickets each, limiting Zimbabwe from accelerating to a higher total.
In reply, Sri Lanka made light work of the chase, reaching 147 for the loss of just one wicket. Pathum Nissanka played a sensational innings, remaining unbeaten on 98, displaying fluent shot-making and controlled aggression. His commanding performance ensured Sri Lanka claimed a comfortable nine-wicket victory, keeping their prospects alive.

Prior to Tuesday’s clash, Sri Lanka had played two matches and lost both, while Zimbabwe had competed in three, winning one and losing two. Two days earlier, Pakistan secured their place in the series final by defeating Zimbabwe by 69 runs, making this match decisive for remaining progression hopes.
