LONDON (Web Desk) - England’s young leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has declared his ambition to cement himself as a genuine all-rounder, with hopes of making the cut for this year’s Ashes squad.

The 21-year-old admitted bowling remains his strongest suit but emphasized his determination to add more value with the bat.
“I still feel I’m a bowler who can bat, but I want to become very good at both. Whether it takes time or happens quickly, I’ll always push to be the best all-rounder I can,” Rehan said.

Ahmed’s confidence has grown following his recent batting form, which includes five first-class centuries. “If I stay long enough at the crease, I’ll always find ways to score. I’m surprised I’ve kept my focus long enough for five hundreds, but I’m delighted,” he added.

Often compared to Australia’s Steve Smith—who started out as a leg-spinning all-rounder—Rehan stressed he doesn’t want to compromise on either discipline. “Leg-spin is an art you can never fully master. I love bowling, but I also want to score runs and take wickets consistently in the same games,” he said.

On the Ashes, Ahmed admitted the prospect excites him but remains grounded about his selection chances. “I’ve never played in Australia, but it looks incredible. If I’m picked, I’ll give my all. If not, I trust the management’s decision—it’ll still be a great series to watch.”
