NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – The Indian Cricket Board on Monday announced a whooping prize money worth Rs1.25 billion for Rohit Sharma-led Team India which defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup final by seven runs in a last-over thriller in Barbados. 

India had set 177-run target for South Africa to win, which the latter couldn't achieve. South Africa could score 169 runs in the second innings, rendering India a close win by mere seven runs. 

Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Jay Shah announced a hefty reward for Team India on his X handle.  

“I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!,” Shah wrote.
