SYDNEY (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s former pace ace Wasim Akram says the Indian Premier League (IPL) is streets ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) because of its global following.

In a candid interview for a website, Akram – who earned the sobriquet of Sultan of Swing and champion fast bowler in his heyday – said he had been associated with both leagues. He said there was no comparison between the two.

The PSL was an emerging brand in Pakistan but the IPL had earned global recognition and was streets ahead in terms of popularity, he said.

Asked to choose between Karachi Kings (a team he serves as director) and Kolkata Night Riders, he said he rated both equally.

The legendary fast bowler is currently part of the commentary panel for Pakistan’s Test series against Australia.
