India clinched their first gold medal at the Games with a 19-run victory over Sri Lanka
(Web Desk) - A host of the leading performers at the recent Asian Games Women's Cricket Competition have been rewarded in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings.
India clinched their first gold medal at the Games with a 19-run victory over Sri Lanka on Monday and it was an impressive knock from Jemimah Rodrigues (42 off 40 balls) that helped Harmanpreet Kaur's side taste success.
Rodrigues was dismissed just once and finished as the leading run scorer at the event with 109 runs and was duly rewarded by climbing two places to 12th overall on the latest T20I batter rankings.
There was an even larger shake-up behind England star Sophie Ecclestone at the top of the T20I bowler rankings following the completion of the Asian Games, with Sri Lanka spinner Inoka Ranaweera and Pakistan counterpart Nashra Sundhu the biggest beneficiaries.
The left-armers each collected three wickets during the Games to reach new career-high ratings, with Ranaweera rising two places to sixth and Sundhu jumping six spots to equal seventh.
Bangladesh youngster Sanjida Akter Meghla also rose to a new career-high rating with a 14-place jump to 26th on the T20I bowler rankings, with Pakistan veteran Nida Dar improving three spots to equal 20th on the same list and one spot to fifth on the rankings for T20I all-rounders.
There was also some change at the top of the updated ODI rankings following the opening match of the ongoing series between South Africa and New Zealand, with Proteas skipper Laura Wolvaardt (up one place to sixth) improving up the list for batters after a fine half-century in the series opener.
Right-hander Chloe Tryon improves nine spots to 14th on the same list after her knock of 71 in that match, while Nadine de Klerk jumps up eight spots to equal 30th on the bowler rankings following her Player of the Match performance against the Proteas.
