Petroleum levy to be jacked up to Rs50: Ogra

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Chairman Masroor Khan on Friday said that the levy on petrol will have to be jacked up to Rs50.

Senator Mohsin Aziz presided over a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum. In the meeting, Chairman Ogra told the committee that the petroleum levy has to be increased, but the GST rate on petrol and diesel is zero. Secretary Petroleum told the meeting that by April the levy would be taken up to Rs50 per litre from Rs37.42.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Managing Director Imran Maniar told the committee that SSGC incurs an annual loss of Rs14 billion in Balochistan, of which 80 percent is due to gas theft. The committee also asked Sui Southern authorities for gas load management plan in the next meeting.
