WASHINGTON, D.C. (Reuters) – Crowds of Kamala Harris' supporters dispersed from Howard University on Wednesday early morning, after an announcement that her speech would be delayed until the following day.
Many greeted one another as they left, while others approached Harris' campaign buses. The venue, once bustling with anticipation, quickly emptied, leaving behind an unoccupied lectern.
Later, Fox News declared that Republican Donald Trump has become the 47th president of the United States.
Earlier, Trump won the battleground state of Pennsylvania, which all but closed off Democrat Harris' chances of winning the US presidency.
Trump has already won the swing states of North Carolina and Georgia in Tuesday's US presidential election, according to Edison Research, taking him closer to completing a stunning political comeback four years after he left the White House.
