(Web Desk) – The Saudi General Authority for Statistics announced a significant increase in divorce cases in the Kingdom.

A report published by the Saudi newspaper Al-Watan revealed that the divorce bonds in the Kingdom reached 57,595 in the last months of 2020, up from 12.7% in 2019.

The Saudi newspaper, Al-Watan, monitored a rise in divorce cases during the last 10 years, specifically since 2011, when the number of divorces in that year was 34,000, then increased during these ten years by 60%.

Divorce cases increased in 2022 compared to previous years. The number of divorce cases in 2010 was 9,233. According to reports in the current year, there are 7 divorce cases every hour in the Kingdom, which makes that for every 10 marriage cases there are 3 divorce cases.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, the approach of women to reaching the limits of self-sufficiency, in addition to the attention and care that she finds, whether at the official level from the public sector, or from the non-profit charitable sector, contributed to making her more independent on the financial level, and contributed to increasing her ability to take decisions.
