The zoo said the animal, a female named Nova, was being evaluated by its veterinary staff.

NEW YORK (Web Desk) - The Dallas Zoo said its missing clouded leopard was found unharmed on zoo property Friday evening, hours after the animal had been reported missing from her habitat.

The Dallas Police Department said it has launched an investigation to determine if the leopard s habitat was intentionally damaged, allowing the animal to escape.

The zoo said the animal, a female named Nova, was being evaluated by its veterinary staff.

The zoo was closed to the public earlier Friday and police were summoned to the facility to help search for Nova.

The zoo said on Facebook that workers discovered that the clouded leopard was missing from its enclosure when they arrived at the facility that morning.

A "Code Blue" was issued, meaning a "non-dangerous" animal was missing from its habitat.

In a tweet Friday evening, Dallas Zoo officials said Nova was found just before 5:15 p.m. local time and "initial indications are she is not injured." The zoo said it would give an update on Nova s condition on Saturday.
