Punjab Safe Cities Authority allows citizens to stream live mobile camera footage to the control room for faster emergency response.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Authorities in Lahore have unveiled a major technological breakthrough in public safety, enabling citizens to connect their mobile phone cameras directly to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s (PSCA) central control room during emergencies.
The initiative, described as revolutionary by officials, aims to accelerate emergency response by allowing real-time video sharing from the scene of serious incidents.
Under this enhanced system, a new 'Connect to PSCA' feature has been added to the Safe City public safety mobile application. Through this feature, users will be able to share live video feeds instantly, helping officials assess the situation with visual accuracy and dispatch appropriate assistance without delay.

According to the PSCA spokesperson, when a person calls the emergency helpline 15, the Safe City officer will send a special live-feed link to the caller’s mobile phone. Once the link is opened, the caller’s camera will stream directly to the control room, enabling authorities to monitor the scene in real time. This live footage will help officials accurately understand the nature and severity of the emergency, leading to faster and better-coordinated rescue and security operations.
Authorities have stressed that this service is strictly meant for emergencies, and the public is urged not to misuse the feature or send unnecessary videos. The PSCA has also requested users to keep their mobile location enabled to help authorities pinpoint the exact site of the incident more efficiently.
Officials highlighted that the new feature is designed solely for rapid assistance, timely intervention and accurate situational awareness during crises. It represents a significant step in leveraging public participation for enhanced safety and smarter emergency response in Punjab.
