A worldwide disruption in internet services caused by a technical fault in Cloudflare’s systems left millions unable to access platforms like X and ChatGPT.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a statement after a major global outage hit internet services across the world on Tuesday, leaving users struggling to access key websites and social media platforms.
The disruption was caused by a technical fault in the systems of Cloudflare — an internet security and content delivery infrastructure company whose services millions of websites rely on to stay up and running.
According to Cloudflare, engineers are working around the clock to identify the root cause and fix the issue. The company said the “nature of the fault” is still being investigated, but efforts are underway to bring everything back on track as quickly as possible.
The outage affected many popular platforms, and users in several countries reported that websites like X, ChatGPT, and other major portals simply failed to load. The sudden disruption caused confusion worldwide as users were left in the dark about what went wrong.

In its statement, the PTA said it is “closely monitoring the global outage affecting X and Cloudflare” and is in touch with international platforms and local operators. It added that the situation will be observed round the clock until internet services are fully restored in Pakistan.
Cloudflare plays a crucial role in global internet infrastructure, helping transport web content quickly and securely. However, an unexpected technical glitch in its network caused widespread outages, with experts calling it one of the largest global interruptions in months.
For now, authorities and service providers say they are keeping all communication lines wide open to ensure users get timely updates as systems gradually come back online.
