Summary Usman achieved the feat on the second day of the rain-affected first Test against England
LEEDS (Web Desk) - Pakistani spinner Ali Usman made history by becoming the first overseas spinner in 54 years to claim a five-wicket haul in a Test innings at Headingley.
Usman achieved the feat on the second day of the rain-affected first Test against England, producing a crucial late spell to give Pakistan a much-needed boost despite the hosts remaining firmly in control.
The spinner completed his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket by dismissing Harry Brook, Gus Atkinson and Ollie Robinson in the final stages of play.
Australia's Ashley Mallett had been the last overseas spinner to take five wickets at Headingley, achieving the feat during the 1972 Ashes.

England finished the day on 366-8, establishing a 195-run first-innings lead after Pakistan were dismissed for 171. Rain delayed the start until 2:45pm, allowing only 57 overs of play.
England resumed on 112-2, with Joe Root and Jordan Cox adding 150 runs for the third wicket. Root scored 66, while Cox made 73.
Dan Lawrence then struck 51 and shared a 120-run partnership with Brook, who scored 91 off 93 balls.
Usman ended Brook's innings, denying the Yorkshire batter another century at his home ground. Brook had scored 99 against India at Headingley last year.
