ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s veteran tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq has officially announced his retirement from the professional tennis.
He made the announcement on Monday during the inauguration ceremony of the first-ever ATP Challenger Cup being held in Islamabad.
Marking the end of a remarkable two-decade journey, Aisam bid farewell to the sport under bright lights and thunderous applause, sharing emotional highlights from his illustrious career with the audience.
Recalling his early years, Aisam revealed that his longtime coach, Haseeb Aslam, had initially refused to train him and only agreed at the insistence of Aisam’s mother.
“My parents were my real strength,” he said.

“Their belief, sacrifices, and constant encouragement shaped me into the player I became. I am grateful to all my coaches, mentors and fellow players who helped bring out the best in me.”
Aisam also thanked Pakistan’s sports media for supporting him throughout his journey from the very beginning.
The ceremony also included the formal introduction of all participating international and local players, marking a significant moment in Pakistan’s tennis history.
