ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Commissioner, Islamabad has moved the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) for early hearing of a review petition filed by the government with regard to its August 18 order for transferring PTI founder Imran Khan to a private hospital from Adiala Jail for his treatment.

The applicant requested the SC for early hearing of the review petition against the Supreme Court’s August 18 order.

According to the petitioner, the matter is not merely related to medical facilities, it is also about legal and constitutional jurisdiction.

In the petition, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad has requested the Supreme Court to schedule the review petition for hearing as soon as possible.

The review petition raises ‘important’ legal questions related to judicial jurisdiction after the 27th Amendment to the Constitution, Article 175 (2) and prison laws.

The petition argued that the court order was based on time constraints, so an urgent hearing of the matter is necessary.

The petition sought review, modification and withdrawal of the August 18 court order.

It challenges the order of transferring the PTI founder from Adiala Jail to a private hospital for medical examination and treatment by a medical panel.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar said that all requirements outlined in the Supreme Court’s order were fulfilled during the medical examination of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Speaking to media in Islamabad, Tarar said health-related matters should not be politicized, stressing that this had been the government’s position both in the past and at present.

Tarar said the government had not adopted any derogatory attitude toward Imran Khan following the court’s order and maintained that health matters should be kept separate from politics.
