Saudi Arabia assures oil supply to Pakistan through alternative route after Hormuz Strait closure

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Saudi Arabia has assured Pakistan of continued oil supplies through an alternative after Hormuz Strait closure following the United States-Israel attack on Iran.

The assurance came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki in Islamabad. During the meeting, Pakistan requested the use of Yanbu Port as an alternative oil supply route.

Saudi authorities pledged full support and cooperation, confirming that supply security through Yanbu Port, located on the Red Sea, would be ensured. It was also agreed that a vessel from Pakistan would be dispatched to Yanbu to lift crude oil cargo.

Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s timely support and voiced hope that Pakistan would be given priority in oil shipments from Yanbu. He emphasized that the government is making every effort to maintain uninterrupted energy supply chains for the public.

Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to standing by Pakistan in times of need and assured continued cooperation in case of any emergency.

Officials noted that most of Pakistan’s petroleum imports traditionally pass through the Strait of Hormuz, making alternative arrangements with friendly countries particularly significant under the current circumstances.
