Punjab launches free service for transportation of dead bodies

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government has launched a free service for transportation of dead bodies to facilities grieving families.

In a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, approval was granted to provide free ambulance services for transporting the deceased from hospitals to their homes.

During the meeting, the chief minister requested a plan to start government vehicle services at major public hospitals and in every tehsil of the province.

She emphasized that at least one van would be available in each tehsil to transport bodies from hospitals to homes.

The family members of the deceased can call 1122 or visit the hospital counter to avail the free van service. The body transportation service will be monitored through a smart management system.

The meeting also agreed to regulate private ambulance services and discussed setting fixed rates for these services.
