LAHORE (Dunya News) Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for failing to announce its Ramazan relief package.

She emphasized that while the KP government has yet to take action, Punjab has been successfully distributing the “Ramazan Negahban Package” based on merit, ensuring that aid reaches eligible individuals at their doorsteps.

In her statement, Bukhari further pointed out that the KP government seemed to prioritize personal gains over public welfare, claiming that their focus is more on issues like the release of certain individuals and spreading division rather than addressing the needs of the people during Ramadan.

She also stated that the KP government had not yet gathered the necessary digital data to facilitate the aid process.

Bukhari recalled that last year, the KP government had used the Ramadan package for political purposes, distributing it based on the lists of party members in the national and provincial assemblies.

In contrast, the Punjab government has completed a province-wide survey at its own expense. This survey has allowed them to collect data from every citizen in the province, leading to the distribution of Ramadan Negahban cards to 4.2 million families.

Additionally, the Christian community has been given separate relief funds.

Azma Bukhari also emphasized that Punjab's Ramadan package is the largest in Pakistan's history, with 74 “Sahulat” markets now functional across the province.

Furthermore, she highlighted the efforts of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the distribution of Iftar meals to 2,000 fasting individuals daily in each Tehsil.
