KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Bar Council has postponed the Karachi Bar Association elections, scheduled to be held on February 14, for an indefinite period.

The decision was issued following an appeal filed by Advocate Mumtaz Khan Tanoli. He argued that the election board formed under the Sindh Bar Council failed to verify the voters’ lists.

According to the Pakistan Bar Council, holding elections without proper verification would make the process non-transparent. It added that elections cannot be conducted without implementing the Sindh Bar Council’s own issued directives.

The verification process of the voter lists is still underway, and the Sindh Bar Council has been restrained from conducting the annual Karachi Bar elections.

The Pakistan Bar Council further directed the Secretary of the Sindh Bar Council to submit the voter lists and ballot material. Meanwhile, the administrative committee established by the Sindh Bar Council will continue its work until the next hearing.
