KARACHI (Dunya News) - The arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) has been challenged in the Sindh High Court.

The petition was filed by PTI Sindh General Secretary Mansoor Ali and others, naming the Chief Secretary Sindh, Secretary Home, Inspector General of Sindh Police, and other officials as respondents.

The court accepted the request for an urgent hearing.

According to the petitioner, the Sindh government issued a notification on February 1 under MPO-3, ordering the detention of 180 PTI workers.

The petitioner’s counsel, Ali Tahir, argued that PTI had announced a shutter-down strike and a peaceful protest scheduled for February 8.

The petition requests the court to declare the MPO notification unlawful and set it aside, stating that the detentions were unjustified and violated the right to peaceful protest.
