LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab inaugurated the Punjab Agriculture Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA), during which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inspected various departments of the authority.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz were given a detailed briefing regarding the laboratory, while a documentary film also highlighted the initiatives taken by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that establishing an authority for transparent monitoring of agricultural products and medicines is the need of the hour, adding that the authority will become a center of excellence in the region.

He paid tribute to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the steps taken in Punjab and said the use of modern technology to ensure transparency is their firm commitment, while efforts of scientists and experts are commendable.

He said he salutes the Chief Minister Punjab for these initiatives, adding that the Food and Drug Authority has been established to serve not only Punjab but the entire country, while a network of forensic labs has been set up to provide undeniable evidence against crimes.

Addressing the event, Maryam Nawaz said the establishment of the Punjab Agriculture Food and Drug Authority is clear proof of public service, adding that Punjab is on the path of development and prosperity and a digital revolution has begun in the province, with no compromise on merit.

The Chief Minister Punjab said serving the public is their hallmark, adding that exporters and consumers were suffering due to the lack of modern laboratories.

Additionally, Maryam Nawaz stated that the scope of satellite crime scene units is being expanded to 38 districts, saying PAFDA is the result of ten years of hard work and that despite being an agricultural country, the absence of testing labs was a matter of concern.
