Punjab Police dismissed all fake encounter claims against CCD, reporting a 60–64% drop in crimes like robbery, murder, and vehicle snatching, while apprehending fugitives and gangs.
LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - The Punjab Police have dismissed all allegations of fake encounters by the Crime Control Department (CCD) as false and baseless.
According to a report submitted to the Lahore High Court, crime rates, including robbery, theft, murder, and highway snatching, have significantly declined since the establishment of the CCD.
The report, submitted in response to a petition regarding alleged fake encounters, claimed that CCD operations over the past seven months have led to a 64% reduction in property-related crimes. Robbery and murder cases also saw a 60% decline, with reported robberies dropping from 792 in 2024 to 324 in 2025.
High-profile crime cases saw similar improvements: highway robbery incidents fell from 41,000 to 18,608, a 62% decrease, vehicle snatching dropped by 64%, and car theft declined by 60%. Motorbike snatching cases also reduced by 53%, from 9,754 to 4,628. Cases of robbery with murder dropped from 170 to 96, a 60% reduction.
The report further highlighted that CCD operations successfully apprehended Category-A fugitives and head criminals, dismantled multiple gangs, and ensured transparency in arrests and investigations. During these operations, one sub-inspector was martyred and 96 police personnel were injured.
The Punjab Police emphasized that all allegations circulating on social media were baseless and that CCD strictly adheres to legal procedures, prosecuting criminals transparently. The report also stressed the department’s strong accountability and disciplinary system, ensuring that any officer found violating rules faces strict legal and administrative action.
