LAHORE (Dunya News) - Renowned anchor Iqrar ul Hassan on Thursday announced the formation of a new political party.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, Iqrar ul Hassan unveiled the name of his party as “Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek.”

Iqrar ul Hassan announced that he would never hold any office or assume any government position.

“I call Allah and Prophet (PBUH) as my witnesses that I will not take any party or government post,” he said.

He expressed hope that the new party would bring a fresh political change in Pakistan, break away from traditional political practices, and emerge as a source of hope for the people.

He further declared that he would not seek or receive any personal benefit from either his own party or any other political party.

Iqrar ul Hassan also announced that his party would soon begin its activities across the country.

The anchor-turned-politician said that Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek is a democratic platform owned by the people of Pakistan, adding that unlike other political parties, it does not belong to any family or individual and has no hereditary leadership.
