QUETTA (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Balochistan has expressed strong anger over low gas pressure during severe cold weather in various cities.
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti was held with officials of PPL and Sui Southern Gas Company. Members of the Balochistan Assembly attended the meeting and raised complaints regarding reduced gas pressure and non-availability of gas.
Expressing displeasure over low gas pressure in Quetta, Ziarat, Sui and Qalat during the harsh winter, the chief minister directed PPL and Sui Southern Gas Company to take immediate steps to reduce public suffering.
The chief minister also showed concern over gas-related accidents and instructed officials to make preventive measures more effective.
He said that the limited gas allocation for Balochistan by the Ministry of Energy was a matter of concern and that a letter would be written to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to apprise him of the situation. “The public is facing severe hardship. We cannot remain silent. It is unfortunate that Sui, from where gas is produced, is itself facing gas problems. Even today, women in Sui cook bread on firewood,” he said.
Sarfraz Bugti added that people in Quetta and other cold regions are freezing due to the unavailability of gas. “The lack of gas supply for consumers is unacceptable. An immediate solution must be found, and the gas crisis in Balochistan must be resolved at all costs,” he stressed.
The chief minister further instructed PPL and gas company officials, saying that he fully understands public issues and that no excuses would be tolerated.
