MANAMA (Web Desk) - President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has been conferred with Bahrain’s highest civilian award during his official visit to the Gulf kingdom.

Upon arrival at Qasr Al-Qudaibiya, President Zardari was received with a ceremonial guard of honor and held a one-on-one meeting with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and giving new dimensions to the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bahrain.

In recognition of his valuable services and efforts to enhance bilateral relations, President Zardari was awarded the Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, First Class—Bahrain’s highest distinction.

The discussions highlighted trade, investment, defense, and security cooperation as key pillars of Pakistan-Bahrain relations. President Zardari invited Bahraini investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan, emphasizing sectors such as agriculture, IT, health, tourism, and infrastructure.

The leaders also discussed the role of the Pakistani community in Bahrain, with over 116,000 Pakistanis residing in the kingdom. President Zardari expressed gratitude for the facilities provided to them and recognized the community as a strong bridge in bilateral relations.

King Hamad described President Zardari’s visit as a milestone in Pakistan-Bahrain relations, praising the Pakistani community’s contributions in Bahrain. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination at international forums, including the United Nations.

The visit concluded with a formal luncheon hosted in honor of President Zardari and his delegation.
