MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - Azad Kashmir has set a new tourism record in 2025, with more than 1.5 million tourists visiting the region during the year, according to the Department of Tourism and Archaeology.
Known for its lush green mountains, dense forests, scenic waterfalls, flowing rivers, and historic sites, Azad Kashmir continues to attract both domestic and international tourists. Often referred to as a “paradise on earth,” the region has remained a top travel destination due to its natural beauty and pleasant climate.
Officials stated that tourists visited both the plain and mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir throughout the year. The department expects a further surge in tourist arrivals by the end of June 2026, as new tourist destinations are being introduced to promote sustainable tourism in the region.
Director General Tourism and Archaeology, Chaudhry Mehrban, said adventure lovers particularly prefer snow-covered areas during the winter season. Valleys such as Leepa, Neelum Valley, Ganga Choti, and other snow-capped mountainous regions remain among the most popular destinations for visitors.
He added that the growing influx of tourists has significantly boosted employment opportunities for local residents, benefiting hotels, transport services, tour operators, and small businesses.
Authorities also emphasized that efforts are underway to improve infrastructure and tourist facilities. These measures aim to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for visitors while further strengthening the tourism sector of Azad Kashmir.
