The PM reiterated that while the government is committed to dialogue and political engagement, it remains firm on upholding legal and constitutional norms.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that government is fully open to dialogue with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) if the party is genuinely ready for negotiations but no discussions will take place under illegal demands or blackmail.
Addressing a cabinet meeting, the prime minister emphasized that he has repeatedly clarified in the National Assembly that negotiations can proceed on legitimate and constitutional grounds. PTI members have already been invited to engage in constructive dialogue within the parliamentary framework.
“If they are ready for this, the Government of Pakistan is definitely ready,” he said, adding that harmony among all political parties was necessary for the progress and prosperity of the country.
The PM reiterated that while the government is committed to dialogue and political engagement, it remains firm on upholding legal and constitutional norms, rejecting any ‘blackmailing’ at coercion or pressure tactics.
Shehbaz also highlighted that today marks a significant milestone with the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), where the relevant authorities and cabinet members have worked meticulously to ensure a transparent process.
The premier explained that sealed bids were received and the auction process is being conducted publicly to maintain credibility. He praised the efforts of the Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister, and Finance Minister, noting that all steps have been taken to ensure fairness and transparency in what he described as the largest transaction in Pakistan’s history.
