ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto will pay an official visit to Pakistan from December 8 to 9, during which both countries will hold discussions on a broad agenda to further strengthen bilateral relations, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Sunday.

The visit, being made at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will be President Prabowo’s first trip to Pakistan. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including federal ministers and senior officials. The FO noted that the last Indonesian presidential visit to Pakistan was undertaken by President Joko Widodo in 2018.

Highlighting the significance of the visit, the FO said it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.

During his stay, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to the FO, the talks will focus on expanding cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate change, education, and culture. Both sides will also explore ways to strengthen collaboration at regional and global levels.

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit.

The FO emphasized that Pakistan and Indonesia share close, cordial, and long-standing ties based on common values and mutual interests, adding that President Prabowo’s visit will provide a valuable opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and broaden mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
