AJK PM Faisal Mumtaz Rathore lauded Dunya News’ responsible journalism at its 17th anniversary, highlighting the channel’s role in development, freedom movement representation and promotion of tourism
MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore says that Dunya News has always promoted responsible journalism.
He expressed these views while attending a ceremony held in connection with the 17th anniversary of the channel.
During the event, Prime Minister Rathore, along with Dunya News Bureau Chief Aslam Mir, reporter Muhammad Iqbal, ministers Mian Abdul Waheed, Javed Budhanvi, social activist Mir Irshad, and senior journalists, cut the anniversary cake.
Speaking exclusively to Dunya News, the AJK Prime Minister said the channel considers the development of Azad Kashmir, the promotion of tourism and culture, and the representation of the freedom movement as its professional responsibility. He praised Dunya News for its journalistic contribution.
Rathore added that the services of Dunya News in upholding journalistic values will always be remembered. The government, he said, will take every possible step to support journalism and strengthen journalistic ethics.
He congratulated the entire Dunya News team on continuing constructive, fact-based and professional journalism on its anniversary.
Addressing governance challenges, the AJK Prime Minister said that although problems are many and resources limited, the government is taking serious initiatives to address public issues.
He stated that while the previous coalition government lacked public approval, the current administration is working with determination, and matters are now moving in the right direction.
He stressed that improvement in vital sectors – especially health and tourism – is essential, adding that strengthening these sectors could help address unemployment. With limited resources but public support, he said, even the most difficult tasks become possible.
Senior Minister Mian Abdul Waheed, Minister Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, PPP leader Shaukat Javed Mir, Mubashir Ijaz, President Press Club Muzaffarabad Sajjad Mir, social activist Mir Irshad Ahmed, Raja Fateh Mahmood-ul-Hassan of PML-N Youth Wing, and several other political leaders, journalists, and dignitaries attended the event.
Prominent participants also included Syed Ghazanfar Ali, Mir Riaz Ahmed, Shahid Mahmood Wani, Javed Hashmi, Syed Afaq Hussain, Aslam Mir, Zaheer Jhagwal, Sardar Zulfiqar, Tariq Naqash, and others.
Officials from the Information Department – including Director Muhammad Bashir Mirza and AD Advertisements Syed Asif Hussain Naqvi – along with journalists Arif Bahar, Shehzad Kolachi, Masood Abbasi, Farooq Mughal, Mirza Shehzad, Adeel Ahmed, Nasreen Sheikh, Sardar Adnan, and Abdul Wajid Khan were also present.
Representatives of the journalist community and other notable figures – including Khawaja Usman Haidari, Haroon Muzaffar Qureshi, Sardar Shameem Anjum Aziz, Raja Amjad, Suhail Mughal, and Wajid Khan – also participated in the ceremony.
