CM Afridi says peace is key to development and prosperity

Chief Minister Afridi expressed gratitude to the tribal elders for their unwavering support
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that development and prosperity are impossible without the restoration of peace.
A delegation of elders from Baizai, Mohmand district, met with the KP CM.
On the occasion, the elders said that Afridi is their pride and that his appointment as chief minister is an honour for all tribal districts. They added that they stand with the chief minister in the struggle for peace and the attainment of provincial rights.
Chief Minister Afridi expressed gratitude to the tribal elders for their unwavering support.
Afridi said that peace is currently their biggest issue and top priority. “Without restoring peace, development and prosperity cannot be achieved,” he said, adding that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Grand Peace Jirga was successfully held in the provincial assembly, and a unanimous declaration was issued by all participating political parties and stakeholders.
He said that the promise of providing one trillion rupees over ten years at the time of the merger has not been fulfilled. Billions of rupees owed to the provincial government are still pending with the federal government.
The chief minister further said that efforts are underway to secure the rights of tribal districts, and that universities as well as medical and nursing colleges will be established in the merged districts.
