LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaque) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued arrest warrants for the accused nominated in the case regarding the upload of a fake video of Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bokhari.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, heard the petition filed by Uzma Bokhari seeking cancellation of the suspect’s bail. Despite repeated court orders, the accused did not appear. Advocate Azhar Siddique appeared on behalf of the accused, Ali Hassan.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that despite 25 hearings, the accused has not appeared before the trial court in the fake video case, due to which the trial is being delayed. Therefore, the court should cancel his bail.
The court remarked, “Why did the accused not appear despite the court’s notice?” The lawyer replied, “If the court orders, we can call the accused right now.”
Expressing displeasure, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum remarked, “The notice was issued to the accused, not the lawyer.”
The court, due to the accused’s absence, issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Ali Hassan and adjourned further proceedings.
