LAHORE (Dunya News) – Interpol has closed the case concerning Pakistan’s request for a Red Notice against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Moonis Elahi.

Officials confirmed that the international policing body has formally disposed of the matter following a detailed review. Pakistan had approached Interpol seeking the Red Notice to secure his arrest abroad.

Sources stated that Interpol examined the request for nearly two years, during which both sides were given the opportunity to present their positions. Moonis Elahi also submitted his stance directly before the organisation. A formal letter outlining the decision has been issued by the Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organisation.

According to the sources, the decision means Moonis Elahi cannot be detained at any foreign airport. The PTI leader has been residing abroad for an extended period, and his movements will not trigger any Interpol action based on Pakistan’s earlier request.

The government had filed multiple cases against Moonis Elahi and was seeking Interpol’s cooperation to assist in his arrest.
