ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Foreign Office has stated that terrorist attacks on Pakistan have risen since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.

According to the FO spokesperson, the third round of talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban concluded in Istanbul on November 7.

Pakistan, the spokesperson said, is committed to resolving bilateral issues through dialogue, with its primary concern being terrorism originating from Afghan soil. Pakistan remains determined to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.

The spokesperson emphasised that Pakistan is committed to taking decisive action against terrorists, their facilitators, and supporters.

“After the Taliban assumed power in Afghanistan, there has been a noticeable increase in terrorist attacks on Pakistan,” the spokesperson added.

Deadlock persists in Pakistan-Afghanistan talks in Istanbul

Despite suffering heavy losses among its security forces and civilians, Pakistan has shown remarkable restraint, refraining from retaliatory action for the past four years, the Foreign Office noted.

The spokesperson further said Pakistan had expected the Taliban to take concrete action against terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan.

Over the past four years, Pakistan has made several efforts to build positive relations with Afghanistan, including easing bilateral trade restrictions and facilitating educational and medical visas.

“Pakistan’s goal has always been to help Afghanistan become a stable and peaceful country,” the spokesperson said, adding that despite Pakistan’s cooperation, the Taliban government has only made promises and taken no practical steps to address Pakistan’s concerns.
